WEATHER officials warned of slight rains and cold temperature in
Metro Cebu on New Year’s Eve tonight as a cold front affects some areas
in the extreme northern part of the country.
Officials from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Mactan office advised
shoppers and anyone with plans to go walking out on New Year’s Eve to
bring with you raincoats and umbrellas, after a tail-end of a cold front
was spotted.
While most of the weather disturbances are affecting some Northern
Luzon areas like Cagayan Valley, Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and the rest
of the country will not be spared from the occasional rain showers and
thunderstorms, said Boy Artiaga, Pagasa Mactan weather observer 4.
But Artiaga adds that while the cold front will be bringing rains in
Cebu and its neighboring islands, no major weather disturbances were
spotted within the country’s territory.
A gale warning has also been issued within the Northern Luzon area, affecting both seaboards.
Pagasa warns of strong gale force winds in the northern seaboards of
Northern Luzon, particularly Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan Cagayan and
Isabela.
A warning was also issued for the western seaboard of the same area, particularly in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and La Union.
Pagasa warns of rough to very rough sea conditions within the areas
mentioned. Small seacraft, particularly small fishing boats, are advised
not to venture out into sea while the gale warning remains up.
